- If they could do it, they would only need to sell around 1 000 000
- machines at the right price to make it back.. is that so hard? Get a deal
- with a chip company.. make a new Amiga chipset which at least holds onto
- AGA capability, gets into 3D accelaration, 24 bit color standard, 16 bit
- sound standard (keeping compatability with the old 8 bit format), adding
- faster blitter and copper, improving on them at the same time and other
- fancy stuff. Enable it to be able to be placed directly on the Power
- Amiga motherboard but also a version for PCI graphics slots and enable it
- to be sold to PCs also along with the OS to take advantage of the chips
- if there, if not then whatever is on the system at the time. Make a deal
- with this chip company that if they can pay them back the money within 1
- - 2 years, they get the sole rights to sell the chips, if not, the
- company gets the rights to the chips and gives AT a license for the use
- of the copper and other Amiga patents. Heck, like I said in another post,
- let the chip company fully fund it at first if they want to. If AT can
- buy the rights off them for sole distribution of the chips then they
- could possibly pay a small fee to the chip company to keep them happy for
- every unit sold.
-
- Is it too late to get in on this Cirrus/3DO M2 deal? Imagine using
- technology from the original Amiga(s) and teaming up with part of the
- team that created it for an updated "Amiga" chipset! It would sort of be
- like John Lennon releasing a new song on a new Beatles album umpteen
- years after his death! :) Long live Jay Miner in the Amiga!
-
- At least whatever chips they decide to use, contact those companies to
- add in Amiga specifics for future revisions so we will get back full
- Amiga qualities and not hacks of them. Heck use Cirrus chips now for
- graphics and use the updated Cirrus/M2 chips when ready! (With possible
- older Amiga specifics)
